Black Bean, Corn, and Turkey Chili

Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 40 min
Serves: 6

Ingredients:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 pound ground turkey
1 large onion, chopped
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1 cup thick and chunky salsa
1 tbsp sugar
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (16 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained

Directions:
  1. Heat the oil in a 4-quart saucepot over medium-high heat. Add the turkey, onion, chili powder, cumin, oregano, black pepper and garlic powder. Cook until turkey is well browned, stirring often.
  2. Stir the broth, salsa, sugar, beans and corn in the saucepot and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes or until mixture is hot and bubbling.

  1. So I am looking to make this for dinner tonight and wondering when you combine the meat mixture with the broth? Is there a step 3 that is missing from the directions?

  2. M&M.... From reading the recipe, I think that you start the meat with the spices in a big soup pot and then when it is ready you add the remaining ingredients to the pot. Good luck!! I say give it your best shot and let us know what you did.
